Ash, the Erinvale Border Collie, arrived four years ago.
She was trained specifically to chase the Egyptian Geese away from our fairways and greens and not disturb any other birds. Guinea fowl, Hadidas and even cats are safe from her gaze!
The geese have come to know her and fly away as she approaches at great speed. They either take refuge in the large dams or go to neighbouring farms.
Ash was one of the first bird dogs to be used on Golf Courses and is well known, having been interviewed and featured in the Saturday Argus.
She also appeared in a number of other newspapers and on radio programmes when she went missing this year.
Members responded to the search, placing posters on their cars and on lamp posts.
She had evidently crept into many peoples hearts.
Ash heard the call and returned 13 days later, healthy and eager to get on with her job.
The brazen geese who in her absence had taken to marching over the greens, ignoring golfers attempts to move them, had to make way once again…..
